A SOLIHULL GP killed himself just hours after finding out he was under investigation for historical sexual offences against female patients.

Dr Philip Schuppler, 58, was found dead at his Solihull flat on November 1.

A spokesperson from West Midlands Police: “At the time of Dr Philip Schuppler’s death we were in the early stages of investigating two allegations of sexual assault made against him by female patients.

“One was a historical allegation from 1995 and another reported by a complainant in October last year to West Midlands Police; both allegations were in relation to examinations carried out at health facilities in Solihull.

“We alerted NHS England to the complaints and safeguarding measures had been agreed with the doctor’s practice.”

A Facebook page – In Loving Memory of Dr Schuppler – has been set up since his death.

On it, hundreds of patients pay tribute to him as a kind man and amazing GP who treated them and their families without fault over the years.
