A GOLFING enthusiast and npower employee has raised £15,000 for Macmillan Cancer Suppoer after organising a range of fundraising activities.

Jason Scagell, head of npower business and former captain of thee Ladbrook Park Golf Club in Solihull, hosted an Irish night, beat the pro competition, a captain’s away day and plenty of auctions and raffles.

Jason raised £7,500 in total – a figure which has been matched pound for pound by the energy company making a grand total of £15,000.

Each of the Ladbrook club’s captains are tasked with choosing a charity to fundraise for throughout the year.

The money raised is enough to fund 74 fuel grants, which Macmillan and npower offer to people living with cancer who are struggling to heat their homes.

Jason said: “Fundraising for Macmillan has been great fun and hugely rewarding.

“Macmillan does amazing work to support those whose lives are touched by cancer and I am so happy to have been able to support them.”

Melanie Failes, senior partnerships manager at Macmillan Cancer Support said: “I would like to say a huge thank you to Jason, npower and the Ladbrook Park Golf Club on behalf of everyone at Macmillan.

“£15,000 is an incredible achievement and will make a massive difference to the lives of people living with cancer across the UK.

“Your support has meant we are one step closer to helping to ensure that no one faces cancer alone.”
