A FITNESS fanatic is gearing up ready to take on a charity spin challenge – despite vowing never to do it again.
Simon Baker will hopping on a spin bike for 12-hours from 7am to 7pm on February 3 to raise awareness to prostate cancer and raise funds for both prostate cancer and make a wish foundation.
The 62-year-old will be taking on the mission alone at Virgin Active, Blythe Valley, Shirley with supporters cheering on from the side-lines.
In 2022 Simon completed the same event in for Acorns Children’s Hospice.
He said: “I’m apprehensive (about the upcoming event) as I did this same event in 2022 at Virgin and said it was the hardest thing I’d ever done in my life and I’d never do it again. Yet here we are!
“I always support a child’s charity as previously raised for acorn’s Childrens hospice.
“My late father had terminal prostate cancer and no symptoms at all and wish to raise awareness for men.”
Simon hopes to raise more than £1,000.
Simon has taken on the challenge to test himself for another event in June when he will be cycling 850miles from the north to the south of France in ten days for charity.
Previously Simon has cycled from London to Paris for Acorns and completed the Lands End to John O’Groats challenge for Dementia UK in honour of his mum who died from the disease.
