Get set for Family Fun Day for 4 legged friends and their owners

Solihull Editorial 22nd Jul, 2021   0

THE long-awaited Family Fun Day hosted by Birmingham Dogs Home, is returning this summer at its Catherine-de-Barnes centre.

Open from 10am to 4pm this Saturday, July 24, families and four-legged friends are invited to enjoy a day of fun-filled entertainment with shopping stalls, raffle and tombola, a children’s play area, barbecue, refreshments and much more.

Plus, families wishing to show off their canine and be in the running for a special rosette and goodie bag are encouraged to enter the Fun Dog Show competition where there is a range of categories, including the waggiest tail and best dog trick.

Entry into the flagship even is £2 for adults and £1 for with furry friends allowed for free.

All funds will go towards supporting the charity’s Healing Hearts Appeal campaign, which aims to raise £100,000 of vital funds to build a bespoke veterinary clinic.

The charity says the increase in ‘designer’ puppies during the pandemic has increased the number of irresponsible breeders, with charities seeing a rapid rise in the number of unwanted dogs with life-threatening and debilitating inherited conditions.

The money raised by the fun day will help the charity manage both emergency cases and the ongoing physical health of the 2,500 plus dogs they care for each year.

It will also increase the survival rates of dogs bought to the centre in life-critical condition and decrease the length of time that dogs need to remain in Birmingham Dogs Home’s care.

Sponsoring the ever-popular event is retail banking company, Metro Bank.

Giles Webber, chief executive at Birmingham Dogs Home, said: “We are delighted to be working with these family-friendly, community-minded organisations and we think they are pawfect partners for Birmingham Dogs Home.”
