SOLIHULL’s Connect Walk-in-Centres in Chelmsley Wood and The Core reopen today, Monday, May 17 in line with the next stage of the easing of lockdown restrictions.
Both centres will be open Monday to Friday, 9.30am to 4pm and 10am to 4pm on Wednesdays.
On arrival, customers will be greeted by an advisor who will discuss the nature of their enquiry and support them to access the service they need using the online and self-service payment kiosks, computers and telephones.
The aim is to make sure help is given to those who need it most, while also ensuring social distancing is observed with rigorous cleaning between customer use.
Spokeswoman Sharon Bryan, said: “During lockdown we’ve all been through quite a sharp learning curve with online orders and video meetings.
“Most of us know people in our families who are now far more comfortable and well-practiced with the internet than they were a year ago.
“It is the same for many of our regular customers who are now much more independent when it comes to making online payments and requesting council services online.
“Given that collective learning we’ve experienced it would be a pity to return to the old service.
“We will therefore be discussing people’s needs with them on arrival, so we can identify the best way to support them.
“Advisors can then focus their time and attention on people who have specific enquiries or need a bit more help.”
Customers should wear a face covering, unless exempt, follow directions and use the hand sanitiser provided.
“There will be a limit on the number of people allowed in each centre to make sure there is enough space for social distancing.”
