General Election 2024 - meet the Solihull West and Shirley candidates: Ade Adeyemo

It’s time for a change – a change after nine years of Conservatism in Solihull.

I’m Ade Adeyemo, your Liberal Democrat candidate for Solihull West and Shirley. With proven leadership within Solihull Council and deep roots in our community, I am the only candidate with a genuine chance of winning who is from Solihull, the only one who can truly be trusted to represent your interests.

As a proud Solihull resident for more than 27 years, I am trusted and respected across the borough as a local councillor. I understand the unique challenges and opportunities that our community faces.

I have been here working in our community for many years. I want to be your MP and only your MP.

I have consistently worked to improve our local services, support our businesses, and enhance the quality of life for all residents. As your MP, I will continue to prioritise these goals and work tirelessly to make Solihull a better place for everyone.

I believe in a Solihull where our schools are better funded, our healthcare services work well and our local businesses thrive. We can build a future where our children have more opportunities, our streets are safer, and our environment is protected.

Let me outline my three main goals:

1. Health and Social Care – our primary care and GP services have been left to fail over recent years, mainly due to an underfunded system.

I want to fix the front door of our NHS in Solihull by campaigning in Westminster for better GP services, primary care and social care. Only then will much of the rest of our creaking system make improvements that last.

2. The Cost-of-Living Crisis – food banks are now commonplace under this Government. We need more Liberal Democrat MPs in Parliament to help fix this. I will vote on a Lib Dem policy to install a proper, loophole-free windfall tax on energy firms to help those most in need with their bills.

We will also set in motion investment in infrastructure, innovation and skills to create good jobs and prosperity.

3. More Police and Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) on our streets – a decade of under-investment in our forces and rock-bottom moral has created a free-for-all for local criminals. In council, I have already helped put more PCSOs on our streets.

As your MP I will do even more to improve community policing, where more officers are visible, trusted and focused on preventing and solving crime.

I will also vote for investment in the criminal justice system to tackle the backlog of court cases and ensure swift justice for victims and offenders.

We also have more policies on green energy, schools, the economy, business, the environment, housing, transport and much more in our fully-costed manifesto which you can read on our website, libdems.org.uk/manifesto

Remember, a vote for Labour in Solihull is a wasted vote. Labour has never had an MP in Solihull Lib Dems have won here before, and we can do so again.

What I am offering is real change in Solihull – an opportunity for a hopeful and positive future.
