BIRMINGHAM Airport found an unexpected passenger on board a flight from Mexico.

A Gecko was rescued from the plane by Solihull Council’s Trading Standards and Environmental Compliance on Friday (August 2).

They wrote on Facebook: “We received a call from the flight company responsible for an airline that has just come in from Cancun, Mexico.

“Just to show the variety of work we do here’s one of the things we did last Friday.

“A little lizard had crawled on board somehow and had been found scuttling around the plane.

“We retrieved the little thing (believed to be a gecko) and gave it to a vet’s in Solihull who will try to home it.”

The Observer has contacted Trading Standards for a fuller explanation of why and how it was involved.
