CELEBRATIONS were the order of the day when Edward’s Trust volunteer, Phil McKenzie won a prestigious award.
The kind-hearted warehouse manager raised more than £5,000 through marathons and a 500k static cycle to help children and their families and was crowned Fundraising Volunteer of the Year at the Volunteer Week Awards held by Birmingham Voluntary Service.
Phil began fundraising for Edwards Trust after receiving their services following the loss of his son Ben.
Phil’s fundraising activities include running the Birmingham half marathon twice, The Tokyo Marathon, and organising his own 500 km, static cycle in the Merry Hill shopping centre.
While raising funds Phil has also shared his personal story to help raise the profile of the trust and encouraged support from new donors.
