Fun and football is the goal of free soccer sessions aimed at Solihull women

LADIES Football 4 Fun are offering free recreational football sessions to women who want to enjoy the sport in a fun environment in Solihull.

The organisation was set up by Melissa and Helen Wilkins-Tims following the success of the Lionesses at UEFA Women’s Euro 2022 and is open to women of any ability aged 16 and above.

They currently hold three sessions a week for training and matches and provide women who do not want to commit to a team with an opportunity to play football.

Melissa and Helen are both veterans of the women’s game and wanted to play football with no stress or judgement – just with like-minded ladies who wanted a kick about in the park.

Their vision is to provide ladies with the chance to play recreational football at a local facility across the Midlands and beyond.

They also want to teach a new sport to ladies who have never kicked a ball before, help with ladies mental health, make all sessions ladies only and create a five-a-side league for ladies who want to play competitively.

Additionally, they are aiming to create a website and social media platform for ladies to book sessions and to talk about and express their love for the game.

The sessions take place at Shirley Park every Tuesday from 7pm, Elmdon Nature Park every Wednesday from 7pm and Hillfield Park (Monkspath) every Thursday from 7pm.
