Fun and flavour at Solihull Food and Drink Festival

FOODIES and families flocked to Solihull this weekend for the Solihull Food and Drink Festival.

The rain held off during the festival as the abundance of sizzling street food, live music and sell-out cookery shows brought Mell Square and Touchwood to life.

Reggae lovers flocked to fill the High Street, listening to UB40 tribute act Rats in the Kitchen and other local bands, while the smell of BBQ and jerk chicken added to the party atmosphere.

Bake Off stars Val Stones and Jon Jenkins had the kids up on stage decorating biscuits while out on the streets the nine-foot tall vegetable patch with his gardener Fred wowed the crowds.

Birmingham’s Michelin star chef Glynn Purnell had the kitchen demo packed out and even threw in a few dance moves to accompany his tasty dishes.

Cbeebies star Katy Ashworth had the children jumping and jiving for a dance and sing-along and the huge cinema screen with its own padded rocking chairs.
