Free activity day for people with disabilities returns to Solihull

A DAY of free sport and physical activity celebrating inclusivity will take place this month in Solihull.

The ‘Include Me Games’ community day will invite people with disabilities and long-term health conditions to take part in a range of fun, healthy activities on Monday October, 27 from 10am to 3pm at North Solihull Sports Centre.

The event is hosted by leading leisure operator Everyone Active in partnership with Solihull Council, with the goal of ensuring everyone has the opportunity to participate in exercise.

All sessions taking place throughout the day are designed to suit the needs and preferences of people with disabilities or long-term health conditions.

From chair-based exercises, archery and wheelchair basketball to walking football and judo, there is something on offer for all ages, interests and abilities.

Both members and non-members are welcome to the event.

An array of information stands from support groups, local clubs and activity providers in the local area will also be available on the day, including Birmingham Walking Football, British Blind Sport, Solihull Seals, Solihull Community Development Team and Wheels For All.

Alex Fuoco-Lang, contract manager at Everyone Active, said: “The Include Me Games demonstrate our commitment to creating a welcoming environment full of sporting possibilities that is representative of our community. A place where everyone feels valued and empowered.

“We are dedicated to breaking down barriers in physical activity and the event aims to showcase our support and inclusive offering within our local area. It is set to be a fantastic day of fun, with opportunities to try out a myriad of activities and we look forward to welcoming those who would like to come along.”

Councillor Tony Dicicco, Solihull Council’s Cabinet Member for Public Health, added: “We’re delighted to be hosting the Include Me Games here in Solihull.

“There’ll be lots of great activities taking place, and I’d really encourage people interested in attending to visit the website and find out more.”
