THE FORMER chairman of Solihull Moors had his dream come true when he got to watch his club play at Wembley stadium.

John Mowl headed to the home of football alongside his dedicated carers, Ellie and Jomon and some of his friends, to watch a Solihull Moors game in the Bobby Moore suite.

The Priory Bupa Care Home resident was chairman of Solihull Moors Football Club for seven years, trustee for three years, and is still a passionate football fan who has continued to support the club.

The 86-year-old said: “I couldn’t believe I got the chance to go to Wembley to watch my club play; it was everything I wanted it to be, and I am so thankful to The Priory staff for making this happen.”

This was thanks to The Priory Bupa Care Home’s #nevertoolate initiative which gives residents the opportunity to participate in one of their favourite activities or achieve something they have always dreamt of, but never had the chance to.

Home manager, Cheryl Harbourne, added: “Taking John to this football game was a fantastic experience. He talks about Solihull Moors all the time and is watching the Euros religiously.

“The carers said his face lit up when they arrived at Wembley, and he could not believe they were sitting in the Bobby Moore suite.

“It is so rewarding to give opportunities like these to our residents and create happy memories for them and their families. They are always such special occasions for our residents to cherish.”
