A FORMER world ice dance champion celebrated her 90th birthday.

Pam Stretton, formerly Weight, got together with her U3A (University of the Third Age) Spanish Conversation at the Sharmans Cross Pub to mark the occasion.

In 1956 the Solihull resident – who was already European Champion – won the World Ice Dance Championships with partner Paul Thomas in Germany.

She retired afterwards to start a family and has remained in Solihull since.

Pam has a daughter Gina and a son Nicholas and a dog, Summer.

Pam plays in online international Bridge tournaments and enjoys her weekly Spanish Conversation sessions.

Hilary Moss, Group leader of the conversation group said: “Pam is such a lovely person and the anchor in our group.

“It was lovely that the Pub staff presented her with the cake and our group sent her flowers.

“She is both loved and admired by us all.”
