A FORMER Arden Academy pupil who travelled to Peru in search of adventure and ended up living on the streets has been found.
Friends and family of Hannah Almond have expressed concerns for her wellbeing and have launched a fundraiser to cover the costs of a loved one travelling to Peru, getting Hannah help and bringing her home.
In just four days more than £8,000 flooded in from across the country to help the fashion designer.
This comes after she was left stranded and living under a bridge after she was reportedly robbed in the city of Cusco.
It is understood the former Knowle resident lost her phone, passport and was left penniless following the attack.
It has been reported she went to the South American country in March for a dream yoga retreat.
Sophie Wallace, who set up the fundraising page, said that, due to the help of everyone sharing the story, Hannah had thankfully been found and one of her friends was on the way to Cusco in a bid to help her and and get her to come home.
“This is an ongoing process but we are doing all we can to bring her back safely.”
Writing on the page Sophie said the funds would be used to pay for the flight and accommodation for a loved one to fly to Peru in a bid to get Hannah, who now lives in Grimsby in Lincolnshire, home.
The money would also pay for accommodation and food and emergency care, which may be needed before Hannah is well enough to travel. It would also pay for any travel and logistical costs required to bring her home safely, including a passport and visa .
The page added any extra donations would be given to charity.
Sophie added Hannah was living under a bridge with a homeless man she had befriended and it was believed he was the only person she currently trusted.
“Despite attempts to help her through official channels, Hannah is deeply fearful and unable to accept support from the embassy or local authorities.
“She is extremely vulnerable, isolated, and not safe living on the streets of Peru.
“Hannah is a deeply kind and gentle soul, and we are desperate to get her the care and safety she deserves.”
The current Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) travel advice warns a number of British tourists had been targeted by armed robbers in recent years.
It added that personal attacks were infrequent but did happen – mostly in the Cusco and Arequipa areas.
