Fond farewell to NHS staff at Solihull nursing home

A FOND farewell has been bid to NHS staff at a Solihull nursing home.

For the past five years people who were discharged form hospital, but unable to go straight home were supported at the Robin House unit at Swallows Meadow Court.

Some of those people went home regaining their independence, some went home and received support from a home care company; others went on to need long term nursing care with people choosing to stay in Swallows because they loved the place so much.

The NHS team has consisted of Physiotherapists, occupational therapists, social workers, pharmacists and medical staff.

The enablement team has relocated to a specially appointed ward at Solihull Hospital.

Swallows Meadow Court said: “Although we will miss them, we will maintain the relationships through the discharge process and new admissions to Swallows Meadow.

“While this is sad for the staff on Robin, it’s an exciting opportunity for our community as we have a whole unit now available for permanent residents and respite care.

“We are taking the chance to start on a programme of refurbishment across the home as we plan great things for our future.”

The team at Swallows Meadow Court said it is looking to make veteran friendly care a priority as part of its renovations to further boost its veteran friendly award status.
