HUNDREDS of orange flowers have been placed on the gates of Malvern Park to mark the 16 Days of Activism against Gender Violence.
The Mayor of Solihull, Councillor Annette Mackenzie, unveiled the display put into place by Soroptimist International Solihull and District.
As well as the display on Malvern Gates displays of orange flowers can be seen in several locations and libraries across the Borough.
These include the Hatchford Brook Family Hub, Three Trees Community Centre and The Core, Solihull.
As well as standing out the flowers also contain vital information for anyone suffering from domestic abuse.
People can call the National Domestic Abuse Helpline number on 0800 2000 247or the Birmingham and Solihull Women’s Aid free, confidential helpline number on 0808 800 0028.
The colour orange is used to represent a brighter future free from violence against women and girls.
The flowers will be in place from November 25 – UN International Day of the Elimination of Violence against Women – until December 10 – Human Rights Day.
As well as creating displays of flowers, Solihull Soroptimists have also run a poster competition on the theme of Prevention – Stand up to Violence Against Women for students at secondary schools in the Borough.
All the entries are on display in the Gallery at The Core until December 10.
