Five people charged in connection with attack in Shirley

FIVE people have been charged in connection with a violent attack in Shirley.

At around 9pm on Saturday February 7, three boys were attacked outside a shop on the Stratford Road.

Two boys, aged 15 and 14, were taken to hospital with injuries which are believed to be caused by a machete. One boy suffered life changing injuries.

Three teenagers – two aged 14 and one 15 – have all been charged with two counts of wounding and violent disorder. The three teenagers will be appearing before Birmingham Magistrates Court on April 21.

Naveed Khalily, 43, and Sadia Khan, 43, have both been charged with perverting the court of justice. The two will be appearing before Magistrates in May.

A 16-year-old boy was previously charged with attempted murder, assault, and possession of a bladed article, and is currently remanded in custody.




Three other teenagers remain on police bail while enquiries continue.

Det Insp Stewart Lewis, from Solihull CID, said: “This is a significant step forward in our investigation, which is continuing.


“I would again like to thank the public for their help and support with our enquiries, as the information we’ve received from the community has been helpful.

“If anyone has information and has not yet spoken to us, please get in touch.”

This remains ongoing and officers are continuing to ask for witnesses or anyone with information, such as dashcam or mobile phone footage, to contact them on 101 quoting crime number 20/140093/26.
