STUDENTS at WMG Academy Solihull are today celebrating a 98 per cent pass rate in engineering in the academy’s first ever set of results.

Students at the Warwickshire Manufacturing Group academy in Chelmsley Road, Chelmsley Wood, have secured a wide range of apprenticeships at companies including Virgin Media, Rolls-Royce, Jaguar Land Rover and Balfour Beatty.

Other students are heading to universities including York, Sheffield and Newcastle.

Stewart Tait, principal of WMG Academy Solihull, said: “Our students have worked incredibly hard to become the engineers of the future and are moving on to some impressive destinations.

“We are proud that our first ever sixth form cohort has achieved an engineering pass rate of 98 per cent across Cambridge Technical and BTEC Engineering qualifications.

“We will continue to ensure that future students build on this success and continue to bridge the skills gap in the UK engineering sector.”

WMG Academy for Young Engineers provides GCSE, A-level and BTEC education for 14 to 19-year-olds.

It opened in 2016 and boasts a state-of-the-art engineering hall and Computer Aided Design suite.
