A BICKENHILL firefighter is set to take on a triathlon in specialist rescue kit.
Antony Cox, who works at Bickenhill Technical Rescue Fire Station, will be taking on the Birmingham Triathlon at Sutton Park in aid of the The Fire Fighters Charity on July 19.
He will be joined by Neil Partridge, crew commander at Sutton Coldfield Technical Rescue Fire Station and Jonathan James, watch commander and Wednesbury Technical Rescue Fire Station.
They will be participating in memory of Iain Hughes, a beloved colleague who tragically lost his life in 2023 while attempting to swim the English Channel for charity.
The trio have challenged themselves to wearing different types of kit for each part of the triathlon.
The 200-metre open water swim will be done wearing a drysuit and boots, the 20-km bike ride in Urban Search and Rescue overalls, which are typically worn during incidents, including earthquakes and the five-km run will be completed into full fire kit.
They hope to raise £1,000 for the charity.
