YOUNGSTERS were given a sneak peak into life as a university student.
A group of year 9 learners from Cockshut Hill School, part of the Summit Learning Trust, visited Aston University as part of the Aspire to Aston Programme.
During their visit, pupils took part in a range of activities, had a campus tour, and were given advice to help with GCSE option choices.
The Aspire to Aston programme offers a series of workshops and activities for year 9 to year 11 children, designed to boost GCSE attainment and develop key academic skills such as study and revision techniques.
Over the three-year programme, participants take part in subject-specific taster sessions, study skills workshops, and a Summer School, all aimed at raising aspirations, increasing motivation, and supporting progression into Higher Education.
Participants also have the opportunity to meet leading experts and current Aston University students, gaining first-hand insights into university life and building the knowledge, skills, and experiences that will help them achieve their academic and professional goals.
Jody Clarke, principal at Cockshut Hill said: “The Aspire to Aston Programme is an excellent opportunity for our year 9 learners to explore higher education and think ahead to their GCSE options. It was fantastic to see the group engage with the activities and enjoy their campus experience.”
