SMITHTONS’ Food Market – a farmers’ market and deli – has re-opened after video blogging their experiences.
Located on a parade of shops on Prospect Lane in Solihull where the Premier shop previously was, Smithtons’ was founded by long-standing friends Andy Smith and Jon Gayton who have worked together for 10 years across multiple industries – from running stadiums, live events and public-listed companies.
They say they are passionate about supporting local suppliers, the finest produce with the least impact on the environment as possible.
It serves fresh coffee hand roasted locally, fresh fruit juices made daily on site, fresh bread made in Solihull, freshly made sandwiches using the local produce served in store, wood fired pizzas again using in-store produce, smoothies and many other items.
Andy said: “The aim of Smithtons’ is to become part of the local community and be more than just your local store.
“In the future all being well there will be evening events such as cheese and beer tasting evenings, coffee mornings, running/ cycling clubs and many more once the business is established pending any COVID-19 regulations.”
As a ‘commitment to working transparently’, they vlogged the journey from idea through to renovating for people to get to know who they are in something they have called ‘The Shop Chronicles’.
Andy added: “I walked past the shop on his way to school every day so it is an area both of us are passionate about bringing something new to the local community that hasn’t previously seen this type of set-up and produce.”
