Sentimental Asian jewellery worth more than £30k has been stolen by burglars in a house raid in Solihull.

Police have released CCTV footage of two men caught inside the Cornyx Lane property and are appealing for witnesses in a bid to recover the valuable pieces.

The haul – all family heirlooms – included bangles, a headpiece and necklaces made from a mixture of pure gold and 24 carat gold.

The detached house was targeted on Thursday evening (November 16) between 4.30pm and 7pm.

Burglars smashed a glass door at the back of the house then ransacked rooms before stealing the valuable gold pieces.

The owner of the stolen gold said: “It’s jewellery which is irreplaceable.

“Some of it was given to me by my father which is very sentimental and other jewellery which has been in my family for years. This has caused me and my family a great deal of stress.”

Detective Constable Chris Elmore is appealing to jewellers, pawnbrokers or anyone offered pieces for sale before Christmas to come forward.

He said: “The jewellery has huge sentimental value and the victims are understandably very upset and desperate for its return. We are very keen to speak to anybody with information about this incident and I would like to urge those people to please contact the police.”

If you recognise the individuals in the footage or have information which may assist the investigation please contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 quoting log number 20SH/247701V/17.
