Families light candles to remember babies at Wave of Light Services

CANDLES are set to be lit in memory of babies who have died before birth or in infancy.

Baby loss and stillborn charities will be holding a Wave of Light Service for all those who have lost a child to mark baby loss awareness week, which runs from October 9 to 15.

The Lily Mae Foundation founders Ryan and Amy Jackson – who lost their daughter Lily-Mae at birth – are inviting bereaved parents, children, family and friends to join them at St Mary’s Church Temple Balsall on Sunday (October 15) from 6.30pm.

Families will have the chance to decorate a pebble in memory of their little one and place it under the tree of remembrance.

They will also be able to light a candle in their honour from 7pm.




The TeddyRose Foundation – who lost their children Teddy and Rose during pregnancy and birth – will be welcoming families to St Philip’s Church in Solihull on Sunday from 6.30pm.

The Church will be lit up pink and blue and there will be free parking and refreshments available.


There are also a number of other services across the region.

University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire are holding a Baby Loss Awareness Service on Wednesday (October 11) at 10:30am at the Faith Centre.

Knowle Parish Church Service is hosting a service on Wednesday at 8pm.

​Worcester Hospital Service is holding a service on Saturday (October 14) at 2pm at St Peter’s Baptist Church.

There will be a Baby Loss Remembrance Service at Coventry Cathedral on Sunday at 2pm.
