FACE MASKS have been reintroduced across all University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB) hospitals.
This comes following high levels of respiratory infections across Birmingham and Solihull.
UHB staff in clinical areas will be wearing a face mask and patients and visitors are being encouraged to do the same, if they are able to.
Clinical areas include: outpatients, diagnostic areas, treatment rooms, consultation rooms, inpatient wards, theatres and therapy areas.
UHB bosses said: “UHB has over 300 inpatients with flu, as well as very busy emergency departments and assessment areas, which all increase the likelihood of spreading the virus.
“Good hand hygiene is essential in helping reduce infections.
“Hand gel and face mask stations will be reintroduced at all our hospitals’ main entrances.
“Thank you for helping to keep each other, and our patients safe.”
