DEMOLITION of the ‘eye-sore’ Powergen building has begun.
The building, which has been vacant for more than 20 years, is being torn down in a bid to make way for a new residential scheme.
The scheme is being led by Shirley Advance and will see a 261-apartment ExtraCare retirement village, 113 new homes and a petrol filling station on the Hasluck Green Road site.
Over the years the plans have been faced with opposition including a bid to make the former building a listed building.
