INTREPID explorers reached new heights as they climbed mountains to help raise funds for Macmillian Cancer Support.

A team from Solihull’s npower office took on the mighty Pennine Skyline Marathon trek in the peak district in aid of the cancer charity.

The team raised over a staggering £10,000, which npower matched pound-for-pound giving a grand total of over £20,000.

Matt Cemm, procurement specialist at npower’s Solihull office, said: “I wanted to do try something new to raise money for Macmillan, and this is by far one of the hardest challenges I’ve ever taken on.

“It was exhausting, but we had people living with cancer at the forefront of our minds at all times.”

The route, taking around ten hours to complete, took the team along the Mam Tor ridgeline around Ladybower Reservoir, up and over Winhill Pike and back to the comfort of their accommodation in Edale.

Catrin Hale, senior partnership development manager at Macmillan Cancer Support, said: “It’s great to see npower employees taking on such an enduring challenge to raise money for Macmillan.

“The number of people living with cancer in the UK is rising and so we greatly appreciate the continued dedication of our supporters at npower.

“The money raised will allow Macmillan to continue providing vital practical, emotional and personal support to people living with cancer.”
