AN ESCAPING driver rammed into a police car injuring two officers following a high speed pursuit in Dickens Heath.
Police attempted to pull over a vehicle in Church Road, Dickens Heath, Solihull, at 11.25pm on Wednesday.
But after the driver refused to stop, police chased after the white VW Polo until it rammed into a police car.
Police say it caused ‘major damage’ but the injuries sustained by the two policemen are not believed to be serious.
A Solihull Police spokesperson said: “We’re asking for the public’s help after two police officers were injured following a pursuit in Dickens Heath last night.
“Officers on patrol tried to pull over the white VW Polo on Church Road, but it failed to stop and officers began a pursuit at around 11.25pm.
“A short time later, the vehicle rammed a police car on Kiln Lane, Dickens Heath, causing major damage.
“Two police officers sustained injuries and were treated for minor burns caused by their airbag deploying. The driver of the Polo fled on foot.
“Enquiries are on-going and anyone with information should contact West Midlands Police 101 quoting crime number 20SH/169330D/18.
