Enjoying the family fete in Barston

Solihull Editorial 3rd Sep, 2022   0

THE SUN shone down as families and residents came together for the Barston fete on Bank Holiday Monday (August 29).

The annual fete at the Bulls Head and is organised by the Barston Association, who also organise BBQs, balls, and other fundraising events to support a wide range of charities.

The Mayor of Solihull, Councillor Ken Meeson, opened the Barston Fete alongside the Mayoress, Annette Meeson.

The Mayor said: “It was a pleasure to open the Barston Fete this year. It is a great fundraising opportunity as well as a chance for the community to come together and get involved throughout the day.

“I’d like to thank all the volunteers of the Barston Association for organising this wonderful event every year for local residents and visitors to enjoy and continuing to do such good work to support local charities.”

The Barston Association runs four events each year – a family treasure hunt in spring, an early summer village event, the Barston Fete, and the Barston Ball in November.

The association is organised and run entirely by unpaid volunteers.

Last year, the Association donated to many different charities including the Mayor’s Charity Fund, Papyrus UK, Trussel Trust, Children’s Boot Fund and Maggie’s Cancer Support.
