SILHILLIANS are being called on pack a picnic, get wrapped up snug in a blanket and sit back and watch the outdoor performances to Solihull’s Brueton Park this summer.

The Core Theatre is set to bring four special shows to the park in August where audiences can watch events unfold with a scenic lakeside setting.

The outdoor theatre programme launches with Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Gondolier, on August 1 at 6pm.

Set in picturesque Venice, this light-hearted operetta will whisk audiences away to a world of blissful romance, barbed satire and comedic chaos.

Filled with live music, puppetry, audience interaction and madness, Angelica Sprocket’s Pockets is said by organisers to be the perfect treat for the whole family. Prepare to be surprised, thrilled and tickled pink by Angelica Sprocket’s never-ending pockets, and the marvellous things she keeps in them, on August 10 at 5pm.

Touring theatre companies, Oddsocks Productions, is set to whisk audiences to ancient times with Julius Caesar on August 13 at 6pm.

Organisers say audiences should expect the tearing of togas, the swishing of roman swords, some preposterous puppetry and the biggest battle scene five actors have ever created.

Oscar Wilde’s classic comedy of manners and triviality The Importance of Being Earnest will take to the stage on August 22.

It tells the tale of two Victorian gentlemen, who both assume the name of Earnest, who try to win the affections of two ladies determined to marry a man of that name.
