Emergency appeal to raise vital funds for Myton Hospice hailed a success

Laura Kearns 21st Jan, 2021

AN EMERGENCY appeal to raise vital funds for Myton Hospice has been hailed a success.

The charity launched ‘My Myton’ to help it get through the pandemic with supporters raising funds.

Warwick and Leamington MP Matt Western was the first to sign up, and since then some 125 people have pledged at least £10 per month for a year or more, totalling over £18,000 for the hospice.

The third national lockdown means that Myton’s 25 shops are once again closed and fund-raising is difficult.

But the charity is continuing to deliver its services across Coventry and Warwickshire.

Chief executive Ruth Freeman said: “We have had a fantastic response to ‘My Myton’ from our local community and we want to say a huge thank you to all those who have already signed up. We have been overwhelmed by your support, it really does make a big difference, at a time when we need you more than ever before.

“We expect to see overall losses this year of at least £1million but our commitment to our patients and their families will not waver, and with the support of our local community I am confident we can continue to provide our vital services now and in the months ahead.

If you haven’t already joined ‘My Myton’ and are able to give £10 per month for 12 months then please do, and help us to safeguard the future of Myton for thousands of people across Coventry and Warwickshire.”

Those who sign up receive a butterfly pin badge, a card and an update newsletter emailed each quarter.

The charity estimates if 4,000 people join ‘My Myton’ the charity’s funding gap for this year will disappear and it will have survived the worst of the global pandemic with its services still intact.
