POLICE have launched an appeal after a elderly man died following a collision last week.

John Sassons Taylor, from Cheswick Green, was driving a white Peugeot 206 which was in collision with a blue BMW at the junction of Warwick Road and New Road around 9.55pm on April 3.

The 80-year-old was taken to hospital with serious injuries and died two days later.

A 24-year-old man from the BMW stopped at the scene and is helping police with their enquiries.

PC Mark Crozier, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “A man has tragically lost his life and our thoughts are with his family at this terribly traumatic time.

“We want to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and may have information to help us establish the circumstances around this collision.”

Anyone with information should call police on 101 quoting log number 2577 of 03/03/19.
