Elderly man remains seriously injured in hospital after Solihull car crash

AN ELDERLY man has been seriously injured in a car crash in Solihull.

The man in his 70s was taken to hospital after the incident where he remains in a serious but stable condition, police confirmed to us.

A man, 32, was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, dangerous driving and drink driving.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson also confirmed to us he has been released pending further investigation.




Enquiries remain on-going to trace a second man who left the scene before emergency services arrived.

A spokesperson said yesterday: “Police are currently investigating following a two-car collision on Yardley Wood Road, Shirley, just before 10am this morning (February 14).”


Sergeant Alan Hands, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “We appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision and hasn’t already spoken to us, or has CCTV or dash-cam footage to get in touch.”
