EDITOR’S COMMENT
OUR front page story of alleged persistent racial abuse of young children on a school bus in Solihull is profoundly disturbing.
Not only are fellow school children the alleged perpetrators, Solihull Council is also considering whether adults in positions of responsibility had handled the matter correctly.
The vile slurs described to us by the mother of the alleged victims are too shocking for us to publish, and police are investigating.
Due process must take its course. But if the allegations are proven, lessons must be learned, and punishments must send the message that there can be no tolerance for hate crime in the 21st century.
