SOLIHULL stood silent for two minutes to reflect on those who fought and lost their lives 100 years ago in the so-called Great War.
The centenary of the armistice of the First World War – a war that was supposed to ‘end all wars’ – was marked by moving ceremonies across the borough.
People turned out in numbers to reflect on all wars, and pay their respects to all, including loved ones, who gave service and sacrificed their lives.
In some corners of the region, the theme was of peace and reconciliation. Germans who lost their lives amid the slaughter were also remembered.
Let that be the message the young generation takes from this week’s historic events.
