EDITOR’S COMMENT
It is hoped the appeal to former patients and their families of the convicted breast surgeon, Ian Paterson, will be the start of a meaningful independent inquiry – leading to lessons being learned across the health sector.
It’s right that the voices of those who suffered anguish from his terrible crimes are heard in establishing the terms of reference for the inquiry chaired by The Right Reverend Graham James.
Meanwhile, the community in Solihull which lives with, or is affected by, breast cancer is being served by a thriving facility. The Breast Cancer Haven in Olton received a ministerial visit from junior health minister Steve Brine, whose tasks include implementing the government’s cancer strategy.
It is good to see this dedicated ‘haven’ making strides regionally and nationally.
