Solihull mother Sheron Williamson’s tale of how a heart transplant saved her life seven years ago is a remarkable one.
Given just 12 days to live after being diagnosed with the rare heart disease Viral Myocarditis , it was her good fortune that a suitable donor was found.
She has since been able to enjoy seeing her daughter grow up.
Sadly, her tale is all the more remarkable because so many don’t get the live-saving organ donations they need.
We report this week how, tragically, 142 West Midlands people (including 11 in Solihull) on the organ donation waiting list have died in the last five years.
It shows why spreading awareness in Organ Donation Week is so vital.
