THE debacle of thousands of brown wheelie bins splitting has bulged our metaphorical ‘postbag’, as this week’s Letters suggest.
Solihull council has sought to re-assure residents it is fixing matters.
Yet there are still dissatisfied customers – with not only reports of delays in replacement bins being delivered, but those replacements not showing up when the council said they had.
A ‘manufacturing fault’ was discovered in the 76,000 plastic bins distributed three years ago – so manufacturer MGB is meeting the direct costs of replacing them, the council tells us.
Yet council taxpayers have already had to fork out £85,000 in council labour costs to sort out the mess.
And that does not seem right.
