EDITOR'S COMMENT; Arayaa, 5, and Irene, 89, are inspirations to us all

They are contrasting in age and even name – be Arayaa and Irene are inspirational. Both are thriving against the odds.

One is starting year one at Berkswell school. The other, Irene Grice, is still working in TWO jobs aged 89, having just overcome skin cancer and a hip operation, while fundraising for Marie Curie.

Arayaa Broadmore is enjoying activities and friends at Berkswell school after several operations to put vital organs in the right place, and life-threatening sepsis.

Mum Jade Johnston is now organising a charity ball in Meriden, giving back to the charity CDH UK which helped her.

Their stories in this week’s Solihull Observer reflect the unstinting love and generosity of people and family amid difficult circumstances.
