EDITOR’S COMMENT:
HATS off to our NHS staff, fire crews, police officers, carers and everyone else who battled through the snow to and bad weather to get to work to keep the borough safe last week.
While many braved the ‘beast from the east’ and took some time out to build snowmen, have snowball fights and take sledges out it was these people who were busy making sure the sick, the elderly, the roads and much more were safe.
Combined with the arrival of Storm Emma, the week-long arctic blast made life more than a little difficult for those who ventured outside.
Community spirit shone through the borough as residents with 4×4 vehicles offered to drive NHS staff and take patients to appointments.
So to everyone who helped out whether it be big or small – we applaud you.
