EDITOR’S COMMENT
THE effects of council decisions after eight years of heavy government funding cuts are being felt across the country, including Solihull.
That is irrespective of political arguments over the extent of national deficit reductions, or how local authorities have been disproportionately cut.
We have also previously reported concerns among borough teachers over government real-terms cuts to schools budgets, and how a campaign helped restore some funding in the borough.
Yet schools continue to report financial headaches.
Our Lady of the Wayside School is now considering how to find the money itself to keep its school crossing patrol – as others are nationally.
It is good at least to see support from the council to find a way forward.
