A CRICKET lover’s dream has come true when he watched Warwickshire cricket club at Edgbaston stadium.

Michael Ireland had always wanted to go back to The Bear’s home ground for a match so at Fountains care home activity coordinator Louise Crooks and Ray Hunt a friend of Fountains Care Home made his wish a reality proving the old adage, it’s never too late.

Michael, said: “I just couldn’t believe it. I never thought I would find myself going back to Edgbaston to watch a match.

“It is such an amazing feeling to know that such a loving group of people care so much about me that they helped me to live out a dream – and I didn’t even ask.”

Since moving to the care home over a year ago Michael has shared many stories about his cricket days, when he and his friend would go regularly and watch the Warwickshire team at home at Edgbaston.

Louise first found out about Michael’s dream during a quiz game based around sports, ever since then, they have been dedicated to helping him achieve attending a Warwickshire match.

Sara King, general manager at the home, said: “We believe that every moment is worth cherishing.

“We want everyone we care for to know how important they are to us here at Fountains.

“It is testament to the hard work and dedication of the team, families, and friends here in making our residents’ dreams come true.

“It was wonderful to see how happy Michael was – and the staff loved being a part of this as well.”
