WITH the Winter Olympics in full swing, many will remember Eddie “The Eagle” Edwards winning the hearts of the nation at the Calgary games in 1988, despite finishing last in both the 70 and 90m ski jumps.
Age UK Solihull, has joined forces with Solihull School to bring Eddie to the borough on May 3 for an evening of inspiration and fun, as Eddie tells the story of how he battled his way to compete in the Olympics and what’s happened in his life since.
The event, sponsored by Midland Eye, will be held in Solihull School’s Bushell Hall and monies raised from the event will help Age UK Solihull continue to support older people in the borough.
Lorraine Hart, Fundraising Manager at Age UK Solihull, said: “I saw ‘An Evening with Eddie the Eagle’ at Malvern last year and as well as being thoroughly entertained, was amazed at the challenges Eddie overcame in his quest to enter the Olympics.
“He is truly inspirational. It is brilliant that he has agreed to come to Solihull and help us raise much needed funds for our charity’.
Tickets are on sale now from The Core Box Office. £16 for adults, £14 for children aged 16 and under.
