TWO FRIENDS remembered their loved ones by completing ten, ten kilometre, runs over a ten month period.

Tim Dart and Derek Pearce successfully raised over £4,600 for Macmillan Cancer Support after completing the physical challenge to mark their 30th birthdays.

Tim, who works at npower’s Solihull office, and Derek, from Cheltenham, travelled across the country to take part in various 10k races and visited places including Wakefield, Warwick, Southampton and Reading.

Their last run saw them complete the Leeds Abbey Dash – running together for the duration with a time of 57 minutes and 40 seconds.

Tim said: “The two of us had our own motivations for supporting this great charity.

“Even when we felt broken at times, the knowledge that the money being raised was going to such a good cause helped us to keep going.”

Mel Failes, senior partnership manager at Macmillan, said: “We must thank both Tim and Derek for taking on this challenge and raising such vital funds.

“Without support such as this, we would be unable to reach such a large number of people affected by cancer.

“Donations make up 98% of Macmillan’s income – it is this type of fundraising that allows Macmillan to provide vital practical, emotional, medical and financial support to people affected by cancer.”

The pair initially set a fundraising target of £2,000, however donations pledged have surpassed their target.

Tim has been boosted with the news that his wife’s, Clair, employer – Foy Wealth – have pledged £500.

Donations are still being taken, visit justgiving.com and search for Tim and Derek.
