TWO people have been arrested in Knowle after officers responded to a burglary in progress.
Officers were called to Fletcher Grove at 3.30am on July 29 to reports a group wearing balaclavas were acting suspiciously.
West Midlands Police said: “Solihull response officers attended the scene and disturbed the group who attempted to flee the area.
“Another police car in the area was threatened with a machete as they ran off.
“The police helicopter along with firearms officers and a police dog carried out an area search before two people were arrested.”
A man aged 18 and a 17-year-old boy were arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, burglary and possession of an offensive weapon.
A grey BMW which police believe to have been stolen in Oxfordshire last week was recovered as well as numerous vehicle registration plates from inside the car.
Phones and items of clothing were also recovered after being discarded in gardens in the area.
Detective Inspector Mark Heard from the Neighbourhood Crime Team at Solihull Police, said: “This was a fantastic team effort that has resulted in two arrests.
“I would like to thank the local community who called us with information that helped us to track these suspects. Information like this makes a big difference.
“We are doing everything we can to tackle vehicle crime and burglary in Solihull and often carry out operations in the borough to intercept these crimes.
