Drivers arrested as police issue warning over road safety

Solihull Editorial 25th Apr, 2024   0

TWO motorists have been arrested after driving dangerously in Solihull.

West Midlands Police said a 50-year-old woman was arrested in Damson Parkway, Solihull on April 19 for driving when over the limit for alcohol.

And a man, 41, was arrested on Fox Hollies Road, Birmingham, after he was found to be driving while disqualified.

The force added: “We take road safety incredibly seriously and regularly carry out operations and work across our force area to take action against dangerous drivers and protect the community.

“All road deaths are preventable and we have set the goal to reduce road death and serious injury to zero under Vision Zero.

“We work with communities and partners, including local councils, charities and the West Midlands Combined Authority to achieve safer roads for everyone.”

The police’s approach involves focused operations in key areas, tackling the ‘fatal four’ and preventing harm to the most vulnerable road users.

The fatal four includes speeding, drink and drug driving, using a mobile phone while driving and not wearing a seatbelt.

West Midlands Police added: “It is crucial that all road users act in a responsible manner, acknowledging the dangers that can be presented on roads. It is also vital that proper care is taken at all times and that drivers and riders act in a responsible manner befitting the risks they can present to others on the roads.

“We will continue our push to Vision Zero but to achieve this goal, we will need the support of all partners, communities and road users.”
