ANY donations of unwanted warm clothing, including hats and gloves, food and toiletries to help homeless people survive the winter, will be gratefully received by a Dorridge-based family firm.
Staff at Taylor’s Independent Family Funeral Directors, in Station Road, are collecting the items for Sifa Fireside in Digbeth, sifafireside, which works alongside Shelter and the council’s Homeless Welfare and Prevention Service (HPWS) to assist homeless and vulnerably housed people in Birmingham.
The charity runs a range of services and a Drop In Centre, where Shelter’s emergency accommodation team is based five days a week. This team works to help homeless people find somewhere temporary to stay and to get off the streets. Its current campaign calls for people to ‘Help Homeless People in Birmingham Survive the winter‘.
Taylor’s director Sam Taylor said: “We just decided we wanted to do something practical to help, especially during the winter. Working in Dorridge, we know it’s a really lovely community and so many people have hearts of gold. People are welcome to drop off any donations to our office.”
Taylor’s is located at 7 Station Approach, Dorridge, Solihull B93 8JA, tel: 01564 635271.
