MOST little girls spend days dreaming of stepping into the spotlight in a ballet – now that dream is coming true for a Dorridge dancer who will be taking to the stage with the National Youth Ballet.

Eva Davies has made it through tough auditions for the second year and will be joining dancers in a new production which will be choreographed by Birmingham Royal Ballet first artist Ruth Brill.

Speaking to The Observer the 14-year-old said: “I am really looking forward to finding out what we will be performing – it won’t be revealed to us until we start rehearsing.

“Performing with the National Youth Ballet is a great experience and opportunity for the dancers and I can’t wait to start.”

Each year a troupe of 150 dancers aged 12-plus are selected from a number of auditions to come together and in a couple of weeks rehearse and perform a ballet to packed audiences.

This year to celebrate the National Youth Ballet’s 30th anniversary there will be four performances at The Cresent Theatre in Birmingham before it heads off to Sadler’s Wells in London.
