THERE were no long faces in Shirley Park on Saturday (June 11) as the annual Donkey Derby eey-ored into town. .

Animal fanatics from across the borough turned up in their crowds to watch the donkeys strut their stuff.

Crumbled tote tickets and sweaty palms were ever-present throughout the day as competitors stood on the sidelines to cheer the donkeys on.

There was plenty to do to keep everyone entertained as fun-fair rides, tote betting stands and numerous food stalls featured throughout the park.

Children also had the opportunity to perfect their posture and test out their trotting skills on the donkeys as rides took place throughout the day.

Plans for next year’s event are starting to piece together.
