A BROKEN-HEARTED rescue dog given a Valentine’s Day gift of life at Willows Veterinary Centre is set to become a star of the small screen when she appears on a popular Channel 5 series next week.
The story of how Molly, a five-year-old terrier cross, had life-saving surgery at the state-of-the-art Solihull vet practice will feature on hit show The Dog Rescuers with Alan Davies on Tuesday (July 11) at 8pm.
Molly had a pacemaker fitted by Chris Linney, head of cardiology at Willows, on February 14, after being diagnosed with third degree heart block, a condition which meant her heart was beating too slowly and would have eventually killed her if left untreated.
The two-hour procedure to fit the pacemaker was funded after an appeal to raise £2,500 by the RSPCA’s Coventry branch – where Molly was being homed – reached its target in just three hours after her story captured the imagination of donors.
Now firmly back on her feet and enjoying life with RSPCA foster carer Amanda Hull, Molly will appear on The Dog Rescuers show, which highlights the work of the RSPCA, and is presented by actor and comedian Alan Davies.
Amanda said: “She’s doing really well and loves her walks and playing out in the garden. I’ve got absolutely no doubts she will go to a caring new home when she has fully recovered, she is such a lovely girl.”
Chris said: “Molly really was a little star during her stay at Willows and everyone fell in love with her, so it will be wonderful to see her story told on national television.
“The operation was challenging due to her small size but it all went to plan and we are glad she’s making a quick recovery and is enjoying life again.”
Molly originally featured on The Dog Rescuers with Alan Davies when she was taken in by the RSPCA’s Coundon Wedge Drive centre, in Coventry, and had to overcome a severe skin condition which took her months to recover from.
