SCHOOLCHILDREN were given an first-hand insight into life as an MP during Parliament Week.
Dr Neil Shastri-Hurst, Solihull West and Shirley MP, visited St Margaret’s Church of England Primary School and spoke with pupils from Years 5 and 6.
During the visit, he spoke about the role of Parliament, the work of an MP, and the importance of active citizenship.
The Conservative MP then took part in a lively Q&A session, with students asked questions — from how laws are made to what inspires someone to enter public service.
Dr Shastri-Hurst said: “It was a real pleasure to visit St Margaret’s for UK Parliament Week.
“The pupils asked excellent, insightful questions that showed a genuine curiosity about how our democracy works.
“Helping young people understand the value of participation in our democratic life is vital, and I was inspired by their engagement and enthusiasm.”
